Piso 3 - Finalistas de pintura da FBAUL 2022-2023 na SNBA
A exposição Piso 3 apresenta-nos uma selecção de trabalhos dos finalistas de 2022-2023 da Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade de Lisboa (FBAUL). Como é comum nestas exposições, a diversidade é a sua principal força. Numa ampla sala da Sociedade Nacional das Belas Artes, os artistas (pois são-o, ainda que os apresentem como estudantes) têm liberdade para dispôr os trabalhos que melhor os representam. São trabalhos escolares, mas todos apresentam uma individualidade e sensibilidade distintas, uma resposta cuidada e pensada para um exercício que extravasa as expectativas iniciais. Enquanto visitantes, não temos acesso às perguntas que motivam estas respostas, mas cedo percebemos que estas não interessam. Pois encontramos em cada uma das obras uma reflexão interna, uma vontade de criar algo que saia dos moldes e transmita algo de verdadeiro. Isto é evidente na diversidade de linguagens, testando os limites do que pode ser definido como pintura, incorporando suportes, materiais e técnicas inesperados.
A exposição apresenta, acima de tudo, promessa. Esta nova geração de artistas é segura nas suas criações, mas flexível o suficiente para testar novos caminhos. Num mundo cada vez mais veloz e incerto, serão estas as duas qualidades cruciais para a sobrevivência.
The exhibition Piso 3 presents a selection of works by the 2022-2023 graduates of fbaul. As it is the norm in such exhibitions, its strength lies in its diversity. In an ample room at SNBA, the artists (because they are artists, even though they might be presented as students) are free to display their most characteristic works. These are school works, but all have an individuality and sensitivity that calls out to us, a carefully crafted and thought out answer to an exercise that goes beyond what is expected. As visitors, we don’t have those questions but we quickly realise we don’t need them. In each and every one of these works we find a deep reflection, a need to create something that breaks the mould and says something true. This is evident in the diversity of languages, as the works test the limits of what can be defined as painting, making use of unexpected supports, materials and techniques.
This exhibition shows us, primarily, promise. This new generation of artists is secure in their creations but flexible enough to test new paths. In a world that is increasingly fast and uncertain, these will be two crucial qualities for survival.
